Rihanna Pays a Visit To Leukemia Patient
April 9, 2009 by Lauren Croteau
Not long after her recent incident involving an attack by Chris Brown, Rihanna is already back to doing her good deeds. People reports that on April 2, Rihanna visited six-year-old leukemia patient, Jasmina Anema at the NYU
Medical Center.
Reports are that the little girl exclaimed, "She’s really here!" upon seeing her idol Rihanna who responded, "you are such a beautiful little girl."
Jasmina’s treatments usually leave her tired says Katharina Harf, executive vice president of DKMS Americas. However, this wasn’t the case when the singer came to visit her. "But when Rihanna walked into the room, there was no sign of that at all. Jasmina loves Rihanna. And Rihanna fell in love with Jasmina."
The little girl supposedly taught Rihanna how to get her groove on while dancing to some of her biggest hits like “Umbrella” and “Don’t Stop the Music.” Rihanna also stayed until 8 o’clock, only leaving because Jasmina had to go to sleep.
Then, the girls had come fun with makeup, which Rihanna brought to specifically give to Jasmina. None other than CoverGirl, of course.
Harf says, "If we could have done anything to make Jasmina happy, this was it. And Rihanna was just as happy. Rihanna has such a big heart. She loves children so much – and it showed."
Rihanna tells People, "It breaks my heart to see her go through this difficult sickness. Jasmina still hasn’t found a match and she is just one of 6,000 people suffering from leukemia or other blood cancers who search the registry every day for a life-saving match. We can take action and sign up to be bone marrow donors. We can save the life of Jasmina and others like her."
